Kaylene, Daniel & the girls…. {Family Portraits Sydney}
July 19, 2010 – 1:55 pm
On one of the windy, WINDY days we had last week, I met Kaylene & Daniel and their family: Simone who is 15, 3 year old Alyssa, and baby Olivia. Kaylene works with LeeAnn, and had seen her photos on Facebook – thanks for the referral, LeeAnn
Even tho it was in the late afternoon, and it was pretty chilly out, these guys were awesome (I always know a shoot is going to be a good one, when the baby turns up in a Parramatta Eels bib – much to Kaylenes disgust!) I was warned not to use the word ‘smile’, but to use ‘giggle’ instead to get little Alyssa’s attention….. well, it worked! She would have to be one of the happiest 3 year olds ive met! Check out this cutie:
And this is little Olivia (not so little, actually – she is a gorgeous chubba bubba!). This poor little thing was struck down with whooping cough, and spent about a month in hospital, when she was around 4 months old. My heart was breaking as Kaylene & Daniel were telling me about it, so many yucky things has happened to this little princess in her short, short life, but she’s on the mend now, thank goodness. A note to everyone – she contracted whooping cough AFTER having her shots – apparently the shots don’t stop you getting it, it just means the illness doesn’t come on as strong as it would without having the injections. I would hate to think what would have happened to Olivia if she hadn’t had her injections – so please, PLEASE, immunise your kids.
Hello Simone! Simone bought a friend to the shoot (I think it was Kaylenes suggestion – to make Simone smile) – well, it worked! And thanks to Kaitlyn for your awesome Rick Astley dancing.
Back to the family stuff….
Super Olivia!
The gorgeous family of 5.
Kaylene bought out a ‘family heirloom’ dress that she’s got photos of the other 2 girls wearing. Olivia wasnt to impressed…..
The Neilson family…..
Thanks Kaylene, it was great to meet you and your family last week, I hope none of you (especially Olivia!) caught a cold. I hope you enjoy your photos – check your inbox for your slideshow

Lisa, Micko & the girls {Sydney Family Portrait Photographer}
July 14, 2010 – 1:25 pm
Im not sure what to write here that I havent already written about these guys…… Ive known Lisa & Mick for years and years and years. I met them both back in 1997 when we all worked at the same real estate agency. All of my family, and many of my friends know them, and I know all of their families, and most of their friends…. they’re the kind of friends that have blended into family, rather than friends (yup, I think they’re the only ones that have been at my ‘family’ birthday dinner the last, what, probably 10 or so years – before Stu even, ha!). Anyway, I guess if they’re family, their 2 little girls are like the niece’s that I don’t have. 2 and a half year old Sophie, and little Caitlin, who was born last November. Just adorable. Soph generally needs a little warming up for the camera, but not on this day, she’s was loving her ‘super model’ poses – check her out, with her mummy, daddy & baby sister!
Sophie was sticking her belly out like daddy does, here.
The 2 girls.
‘KK’
For some reason, Mick thought it would be AWESOME to teach Sophie how to do ‘thumbs up’ just days before their photo-shoot…. good one Micko!
Thanks Lisa & Mick, for letting me take some updated family photos. Next time we’ll do it on a warmer day…
xx
Megan is having a baby! {Sydney Maternity Photographer}
July 11, 2010 – 5:17 pm
I just love shooting pregnant bellies. I love meeting mummy’s-to-be and hearing all about their pregnancy stories. Im finding not too many of my clients book in a maternity shoot – either they contact me after the baby is born, or they’re just not too into it, which is shame, because I think its just beautiful to capture the miracle of a growing belly. Megan contacted me a few months back to book in her pregnancy and then newborn shoot. As I was driving to meet Megan on Friday afternoon, there were raindrops on my windscreen…. We had ‘rainchecked’ our shoot from the day before due to rain. But as Megan’s little girl is due in about 2 weeks – we decided to give it a go…. I came prepared with an umbrella just incase! BUT, we only got a few sprinkles while we were together, so I managed to capture this gorgeous belly!
Hello Megan! You’re going to be a yummy mummy!
Aimee bought me these gorgeous hot pink ‘Roses Only‘ roses for my birthday last week. I grabbed 6 of them before walking out the door to Megans shoot (and screamed ‘ouch’, as the thorns were MASSIVE) – they just made the day a little brighter, and seeing Megan is having a girl, I thought they were the prefect prop for her shoot.
Megan, it was really lovely to meet you, on that cold, windy & rainy day! Lets hope your heating is working when I come and photograph your little baby girl in a few weeks
Enjoy your photos, and check your in-box for your slideshow! xx

Our Family Photos {Sydney Wedding & Portrait Photographer}
July 6, 2010 – 9:51 am
I love my job. Ive said it before, and i’ll say it again – I love my job. The absolute best thing in the world is being able to capture precious & beautiful moments for awesome people. Whether it be 2 people inlove – having fun at their engagement-shoot, or straight after the ceremony, where they’re so ecstatic and over the moon that they’ve finally said ‘I-do’, or parents-to-be – watching the miracle of a growing tummy, and then being able to capture the joy of ‘mummy & daddy’ experiencing parenthood together! Or just capturing every day families being ‘a family’ together – playing with the dog, throwing leaves at each other, reading a story…. just being able to capture the bond a family has, makes me smile.
But, to be honest, after a shoot, when Im downloading the memory cards onto the computer, my smile sometimes turns upside down, as I don’t have these photos of my family. Sure, we’ve got the wedding photos, the holiday snaps, the ‘special event photos’, and then when Tom came along there are a stack of him, but there aren’t too many of us, as a family, as we are right now.
So… when my good friend (& awesome photographer) Cathy phoned to say she was coming down from Port Stephens for the weekend, and suggested catching up for dinner, I had a better idea. Its actually my birthday TODAY, and I thought the perfect pressie from Stu to me would be some family photos. Luckily Cathy agreed – and last weekend we had an awesome photo shoot.
(Oh, and I had all the dramas that my past, and probably future clients have – does my bum look big in that, you’ve got toothpaste on your top, I don’t want to see Toms nappy, there is duck poo on the ground, what if the colours don’t look good in the photos, what if its raining, and can you photoshop out the blind pimple……. but hey, at the end of the day, Ive got photos of my family, and they’ll be cherished forever.)
Thank you Cathy from Catherine De La Hunty Photography for taking all of the below photos, looking forward to shooting with you again soon! Oh, and if you’re wanting a shoot in the Port Stephens / Nelson Park area – give Cath a buzz – tell her I sent you.
Without further adeu, here is my beautiful family, as it is right now:
This next one is getting printed out large for the grandparents, and great-grand mother!
This photo isn’t that Fab, but check out my hair!!! LOVE IT! Ive never had thick, long hair before – im loving it! It helped that it was trimmed & coloured the day before the shoot, thanks Louise!
My 2 boys.
Me & my boy.
Me & my other boy.
Yup, its my birthday. And im gunna pose if I want to
Thanks again to Cathy for taking these great photos for us, a lovely birthday pressie from Hubby, and a great memory to have!
