Catching the last rays of summer……. ~ Sydney Family Portrait Photographer
March 26, 2009 – 7:28 pm
Summer days are almost over. We’re almost a month into Autumn now, and gosh, aren’t the days getting shorter. The sun wasn’t setting until after 8-30pm a few weeks ago, now we’re lucky if it gets to 7-30pm, and in another few weeks, it will be dark around 6pm…. (yuck).
Anyway…… Belinda & her family are one of my Bushfire appeal clients, happily donating a few hundred dollars to the Red Cross (thank you!). (I also shot Belinda and little Ellie last October, I cant believe her gorgeous daughter is now 6 months old!) Being a bushfire shoot, we decided to head to the bush an hour or so before the sun set. I just love the smell of the Aussie bush, and the sound, and the colour….mmm. (I keep threatening Stu that im going to go on the next season of Farmer Wants a Wife, just for the scenery!). I know the Victorian bush will grow back bigger and stronger than ever after this disaster!
So back to last Saturdays shoot. Like a lot of men, John doesn’t like having his photo taken. Actually, John didn’t even know he was having his photo taken until he turned up to the shoot on Saturday afternoon. Hence the hat. And Stubble. I did give him the option of using my hairbrush but he declined…. He was a good sport tho, even carrying a park bench into the bush for me!
Here is your preview, Belinda – enjoy!
Christian, and he’s gorgeous baby-blues.
Mummy & Princess Elyssia
Ah, true love! I don’t even think this one was staged!
I hope you enjoy the photos, Belinda (and your mum enjoys her mothers day pressie!), see you soon!

Nicky + Donal = MARRIED!! ~ Blue Mountains Wedding Photographer
March 22, 2009 – 7:46 pm
I first met Nicky & Donal on Fathers day last year, at a lovely little cafe (um, ok, it was a McCafe) to discuss their wedding plans. Their wedding sounded just like my wedding: a small, intimate, outdoor ceremony with close friends and family, followed by great food & wine, and then plans to party the night away! After lots of e-mails, phone calls, and a trip to see the stunning venue they had picked, the 7th of March was finally here, and Nicky & Donal were married in the gardens of a gorgeous old historic house called Yester Grange, at Wentworth Falls. Here are my favourite photos from the day:
Yester Grange
The view from the property, sometimes you can hear the waterfall at the bottom.
MARRIED! You couldn’t wipe the smile from Nicky’s face!
Hubba Hubba….
Nicky and her 2 gorgeous bridesmaides.
I would have loved to have stayed for the reception, and partied the night away with your crazy family!!! Poor grandma, I doubt this photo will make it to the family photo wall…..
Congratulations on your wedding, Nicky & Donal, I hope you’re having an awesome honeymoon in Tassie (and leave some chocolate at the Cadbury Factory!). Looking forward to your Trash the Dress shoot!!

Chris Atkinson, Kirsty Roberts and the band with no name ~ Sydney Photographer
March 6, 2009 – 7:36 am
And back to work I go….. Yes, I’m back, all recovered from the birth of Tom, and have adjusted (as best anyone can) to life with a baby (who is 6 weeks old now – time flies!). I have taken millions of photos of our little bundle of joy, but alas, processing & editing work photos comes first. I promise I’ll post soon!
Speaking of work….. Chris contacted me in response to the Bushfire Appeal post (below), wanting some shots taken of his new band – himself on guitar, and a stunner named Kirsty on vocals. It was awesome to shoot their (yet to be named) band, with Chris strumming away, and Kirsty singing (gorgeous voice, by the way), belting out tunes like Dancing Queen (which I tried, very unsuccessfully to sing along too!)
Here are a few of my favourite photos from the mini-shoot:
How HOT are Chris & Kirsty! How could you not book them, for your wedding or next function?
I asked Chris for a little blurb on his music, for this blog, and also the links page on my website. Here it is:
Any style of music, for any setting, on any scale: Chris can create the musical effect you need to complete your special day. Chris has been performing all over the world as a singer and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, saxophone, piano, bass, flute, clarinet); recently returned to Sydney after working in Japan at Universal Studios, aboard international luxury cruise ships and at the famous Hayman Island Resort, he regularly performs solo or as part of a duo, trio or larger groups. From quiet background jazz to popular music for dancing, there’s no occasion or budget too big or small! Contact Chris for a wide variety of demo material and repertoire: catkinson123@hotmail.com
Best of luck with the band, guys – can’t wait to hear you again! And thanks for donating to the Bushfire Appeal!
Lauren.
