Hamilton Island

Finally…. here are some photos of our holiday to Hamiltion Island. As you can see, the weather was a little overcast, but still hot enough to go swimming every day (which Daphne loved). I spared you all by not posting any photos of me being 26 weeks pregnant in a bikini, I did cop a few looks from some older people around the pool, but hey - 1) its natural, and 2) im never going to see those people again, so why not flaunt it! :)

Anyway, before we flew out, Stu & I took a walk around Manly, and he started going crazy at some big beefy guys holding some brown trophy… he begged me to take a photo of him holding it. He’s tried explaining to me what it is, but hey – im the girl that spent 80 minutes talking to girlfriends during this years footy grandfinal!

On to the holiday (after almost missing our flight… thats a whole other post!). This is the view from our room:

Day 2 of our holiday took us to Whitehaven Beach. Yes, it really is as magical as all the photos make it out to be, only trouble was the boat that got us there, dropped us off at the other end to all the beautiful sandbars you see in the advertising material (and told us that we didn’t have time to walk there and back), and then we were warned about swimming in the water, as the stingers were out this time of year (if you get stung, you stop breathing, not good for baby). So, we were stuck laying on a hot beach for 2 hours. And silly me forgot to take money for drinks. Oops. You live and learn. It was pretty special tho:

To kill some time, we did go for a short walk (so hard to go for a walk at the beach and NOT put your feet in the water!), and we ran into these guys on a canoe. Now, anyone that knows me will know that I struggle with accents, um, I think they were French? Seriously, you’d have to be from another country to canoe around the Whitsundays in 30+ temp! Anyway, they asked if I could take a photo of them with their camera, so then I asked if I could take one with mine. Lovely guys, I hope they made it to ‘honey island’, which im sure they said they were headed (Stu & I looked on a map, we couldn’t find it anywhere… um, good luck fellas!)

Stu went deep-sea fishing, and actually caught a fish! I was so proud of him, as I think he’s only caught 1 or 2 fish in his whole life! :) Check out his t-shirt… I tried to hide it when he got back to the unit, but oh-no, it managed to come home with us, stinking out the rest of the suitcase…..

And no holiday is complete without a lovely self-portrait of Stu & I (taken by Stu, with the point & shoot), just to prove we were actually there. Smile!

There you go, the Walkers have now down Hamilton Island!

Hayley & Iain = MARRIED!! ~ Sydney Wedding Photographer

Last Saturday, the 11th of October, my good friends Iain & Hayley were married in a gorgeous ceremony at the Kings School Chapel, and then partied the night away at their reception at the Manly Pacific. I was a guest at the wedding, so I had the night off from my normal photographer duties, however I was asked to take some photos of Iain & his groomsmen before the ceremony….

The gorgeous Chapel:

Iain:

All the boys – sorry Haylz, couldn’t resist posting this photo! Only the boys will know which order they stood for this photo (and their wives, by looking at their butts!):

As I mentioned, I was a guest at their wedding, so didn’t take many photos from my position in the pew (is that what they’re called?). I did however sneak out before the end of the ceremony (naughty, I know), to get some photos of Hayley & Iain exiting the church as man & wife:

The gorgeous Hayley:

Off to the Manly Pacific, I snapped this photo of Hayley with good friend & bridesmaid Kristie before we walked in – yes Kristie is glowing, and doesn’t look 25 weeks pregnant at all!

I then snuck up to Hayley & Iains room to steal a few photos before the reception started, I couldn’t work out which photo to post here, hence the storyboard!

I put the camera away for most of the reception, I just snapped a few photos with the cutting of the cake, and the first dance:

Haylz & E, you guys are absolutely gorgeous, thank you for inviting Stu & I to your wedding, and i’ll give you the disc for all of the photos I took, as soon as we can work out how many hours baby-sitting time you’re going to give me, he he. Enjoy WA, love you both!

L.

Ps – We flew out to Hamiltion Island the following day, had a terrific time, photos to come soon!

Holidays!

Hi, following on from my last post, Stus taking me to Hamilton Island this weekend, we leave on Sunday morning (after Hayley & Iain’s wedding), and return before next Saturdays wedding at Newcastle.  So…. I’ll be off the air for about a week. I will reply to all e-mails & phone calls when I return! Bye!

My 5th wedding anniversary

Ive been married to Stu for 5 years today!! I can’t believe its been 5 years, its gone so fast! One thing for sure (and not to sound TOO soppy), I think I love my husband more and more every day. Its weird, each day I think ‘I can’t love him anymore than this’ then the next day he’ll do something special for me (buy flowers, cook dinner, bring the washing in, walk the dogs so I don’t have to, etc), and I’ll fall in love with him all over again.

Then, he went and planned a surprise holiday to Hamilton Island for our wedding anniversary (sneaky bugger had to get a hold of my diary, to plan it between weddings & portrait shoots!). Far out – I LOVE YOU, BABE!

Here is a photo of the 2 of us on our wedding day, with the words to our wedding song.

Happy Anniversary darling! Cant wait to spend the next 5 years with you! And cant wait for Hamilton Island!! Yea!!!!

Love Lauren.

Spring Family Session ~ Sydney Family Portrait Photographer

Judy contacted me a while back, to book in a family portrait shoot for her mums birthday. Between all of the kids jet-setting lifestyles, and the spring rain we’ve been having, it was hard locking in a date… We got there in the end, these photographs are from last weekend - enjoy guys!

Thanks for a fun shoot, guys! Enjoy your photos, and happy birthday Elaine!

2 week old Elyssia ~ Sydney Newborn Photographer

Yesterday, I had the pleasure / daunting task of photographing a 2 week old baby girl - I was so excited, as the youngest baby I have photographed to date was 5 week old Zoe, who was wide awake the whole time! I was so looking forward photographing a lovely, sleepy newborn….. Elyssia had other plans! Here she is… wide awake!

And awake again, in her gorgeous room – its so special when mum and dad find out the sex of bubs before they’re born, so they get a chance to paint the walls and buy pink / blue things (side note, my husband has had blue paint on his nose/elbows/knees/clothes for the past week – yes ‘Daphne’s’ room is almost finished!)

Elyssia & mummy

Enjoy!
