Rockstar Brody and his fab family! {Sydney Family Photographer}

A month or so ago now it was Red Nose Day Australia.  Like so many of these ‘days’, I never seam to find out about them until they’re well and truly over, which drives me NUTS! Anyway, I did find out about Red Nose Day the morning of, and put a shout-out on our Facebook Page for anyone wanting to book a shoot, that we’d donate 50% of the session cost to Red Nose Day. Anyway, within about 5 minutes, Annali had booked in her shoot! So warm & fuzzy’s all around :) Facebook is a funny thing – Annali had seen Louises photos from April (as they’re Facebook Friends, thru Louises sister-in-law), and since booking in her shoot, ive gotten to know her a little, so I was really looking forward to meeting her and her family.  This shoot was supposed to be earlier in August, but then she found out her folks were coming down from the sunny Gold Coast last weekend AND it was also her mums birthday on the Sunday, so she pushed the shoot back a few weeks, to include her parents.

So finally, last Saturday, I got to meet Annali, her husband Derek and the cutest little 3 and a half year old – Brody. Check him out:

I really love this shot of Brody looking at the camera, while the rest of the family are looking at him!

Brody with Gran (Margaret) and Papa (Barrie) – a big happy birthday to Gran for last Sunday too!

I could tell you what Brody is doing here, but that would give away my ‘photographing children’ secret ;)

Believe it or not, but Gran & Papa are on Facebook! So this blog post has a few extra family photos , so they can see the photos from the Gold Coast.

What little boy doesn’t like doing ‘noses’ with their dad – and Happy Fathers Day for Sunday, Derek!

Not too sure if Brody gets his gorgeous eyes from mum or dad…..

A kiss for mum!

Doh! Lipstick!

We got out the bubble machine for a few photos, but unfortunately it was a little bit broken, the bubbles decided to come out in massive clumps. Its currently sitting in my laundry tub waiting for a bath :)

So then Brody got out some of his musical instruments (and yes, that is liquid from the bubble machine on his arm)

Check out the whole family grooving away!

Love this one of Brody and his Papa.

And 2 more quick photos of Brody, you’re a gorgeous kid!

Annali, your family is just lovely, I had a ball spending Saturday afternoon with you all. I hope your mum had a lovely birthday on Sunday, and im glad Brody slept well Saturday night :)

Check your inbox for your slideshow, and Im looking forward to shooting Dereks side of the family for you soon too.

Our Family Photos {Sydney Wedding & Portrait Photographer}

I love my job. Ive said it before, and i’ll say it again – I love my job. The absolute best thing in the world is being able to capture precious & beautiful moments for awesome people. Whether it be 2 people inlove – having fun at their engagement-shoot, or straight after the ceremony, where they’re so ecstatic and over the moon that they’ve finally said ‘I-do’, or parents-to-be – watching the miracle of a growing tummy, and then being able to capture the joy of ‘mummy & daddy’ experiencing parenthood together! Or just capturing every day families being ‘a family’ together – playing with the dog, throwing leaves at each other, reading a story…. just being able to capture the bond a family has, makes me smile.

But, to be honest, after a shoot, when Im downloading the memory cards onto the computer, my smile sometimes turns upside down, as I don’t have these photos of my family. Sure, we’ve got the wedding photos, the holiday snaps, the ‘special event photos’, and then when Tom came along there are a stack of him, but there aren’t too many of us, as a family, as we are right now.

So… when my good friend (& awesome photographer) Cathy phoned to say she was coming down from Port Stephens for the weekend, and suggested catching up for dinner, I had a better idea. Its actually my birthday TODAY, and I thought the perfect pressie from Stu to me would be some family photos. Luckily Cathy agreed – and last weekend we had an awesome photo shoot.

(Oh, and I had all the dramas that my past, and probably future clients have – does my bum look big in that, you’ve got toothpaste on your top, I don’t want to see Toms nappy, there is duck poo on the ground, what if the colours don’t look good in the photos, what if its raining, and can you photoshop out the blind pimple……. but hey, at the end of the day, Ive got photos of my family, and they’ll be cherished forever.)

Thank you Cathy from Catherine De La Hunty Photography for taking all of the below photos, looking forward to shooting with you again soon! Oh, and if you’re wanting a shoot in the Port Stephens / Nelson Park area – give Cath a buzz – tell her I sent you.

Without further adeu, here is my beautiful family, as it is right now:

This next one is getting printed out large for the grandparents, and great-grand mother!

This photo isn’t that Fab, but check out my hair!!! LOVE IT! Ive never had thick, long hair before – im loving it! It helped that it was trimmed & coloured the day before the shoot, thanks Louise!

My 2 boys.

Me & my boy.

Me & my other boy.

Yup, its my birthday. And im gunna pose if I want to :)

Thanks again to Cathy for taking these great photos for us, a lovely birthday pressie from Hubby, and a great memory to have! :)

Keira, just 7 days new…. {Sydney Newborn Photographer}

When I saw on Facebook that Nicky & Donal were having a baby, I was so excited!!!! My first ‘bride & groom’ to have a baby together after the wedding. And then when Nicky asked me to shoot the newborn photos I was singing for joy! Not only were Nicky & Donal a super cool couple, but I was stoked that my plan was all starting to come together…. when I started this business, I remember I had crazy things on my website – I wanted to shoot EVERYTHING! I was told by a few people to cull and specialise, so I got rid of the animal photos. I got rid of the landscape photos. I got rid of the photos of buildings & houses. I got rid of the advertisements for graphic design services (invitations, birth announcements & thank you cards). I got rid of the photo keyrings & handbags, al-la Cath & Kim (seriously, but if anyone still wants a photo handbag, I have a pile somewhere – they make great pressies for the grandparents!). But I couldn’t decide between portraits & weddings. I didn’t want to. I wanted to capture both. They’re just so completely different, but so special & wonderful in their own way. And Im so glad I decided not to specialise any further – if I had I may not have met Nicky & Donal for their wedding last year at Yester Grange, or I may not have met this gorgeous little angel, just 7 days old. Meet Keira Claire:

The beautiful new family of 3.

This photo was taken in the midst of posing little Keria, but I thought this one was cuter!

Family photo with the cats, whose names I cant remember, so Im calling them blackie and snowie,  hope thats ok, guys!

My favourite photo of the day, in the late afternoon sunshine.

So here is little miss Keira, who didn’t want to miss the Easter Bunny on Sunday, so popped out a few weeks early! And to Nicky & Donal, she’s just gorgeous, well done! You guys are so natural for first time parents, and you’ve created perfection. Enjoy the photos, and your slideshow thats been e-mailed to you! See you for the next newborn photos (ha ha) xx

I met a Star…. THE Jasmine* {Sydney Wedding Photographer}

So…. im not really into ‘stars’. Im actually really terrible, I not sure if its that I don’t recognise  the ‘star’, or  if  Im just one of those people who doesn’t get ‘star-struck’.   Ive stood next to a breakfast radio DJ while picking up my pizza, and didn’t bat an eye. I had a drink at our local pup, while a tennis star and his ‘home & away’ wife played pool behind me, and I didn’t go all weak at the knees, I shot a wedding last year, where an Underbelly star was the brides cousin, and I didn’t even realise until my husband saw me editing the photos (and thats bad, because, like the rest of Australia, minus Victoria, I LOVED the first underbelly, I SHOULD have recognised him from a mile away!). I feel sorry for the poor sports personalities out there, who are doing what they love for a living, and somehow its turned them into celebrities (except for Shane Warne) (Oh, and I am thankful for all the Ben Cousins coverage with no top on, he he :) ).  My husband reckons I’d be the best person to shoot a celebrity wedding, as I wouldn’t get all star-struck. I read mums old Woman’s Days  in about 2 minutes, because im just not really interested. I believe their life is their own.

Anyway, in saying all of that, last Monday, I met a star. The one and only, Jasmine Star, an awesome photographer based in the US.  Ive followed j*’s website for a year or so now, and actually surprised myself when I booked to go to her workshop as soon as I found out about it. I wondered, did I really want to go to meet j* herself, or did I want to go to learn from the master. Ah, what the hell, a little from column A and a little from column B! I must admit, I was a bit star-struck. She looked EXACTLY like she looks on her blog, a skinny mini, with perfect teeth, and she really does LOVE her gorgeous hubby, JD (and Polo the dog). I had a great day, learnt a bunch, and got to catch up with some Facebook Buddies (new & old). I didn’t take too many photos of the gorgeous models, as I spent more time watching Jasmine shoot, and listening to the way she directed the bride & groom, etc – but here are a few images I managed to shoot:

Model: Kristie Jane, Flowers: Daisy Chain Florist, Dresses: Catherine Coulbriale, Hair & Make-up: Elle Vierboom

Our real life couple (married 6 or so months) – Lacey & Evan:

Till next time! L. xx

A month without blogging…… {Sydney Photographer}

Yes, its been a month! I haven’t been slack… ive been SICK! Man-o-man, so sick!!! As friends & facebook followers will know, Tom started at daycare mid October (approx 6 weeks ago)…. I was prepared for him to get sick, you know, a sniffle here and there, but my gosh, I was not prepared for me to get sick too! And sick,  thats an understatement!! I think I had every illness in the world over the last month and a half!  One of my friends said to me ‘ive never known you to be sick’ which is true, but when I get sick, I just dont get your run of the mill cold, no, I had to end up with infected sinus’s – so infected that I ended up with a black eye! Not nice at all, and even worse for poor Stu, who copped some rude looks when we were out! :) Little Tom went thru his first cast of bronchuiltis (how do you spell that?), and 4 courses of antibiotics before his ear infection finally cleared up (we got the all clear this morning!). Needless to say, Tom is no-longer a daycare child, and im learning a whole new meaning to the term ‘working mum’. I managed to juggle a few shoots while I was sick, cancelled and re-scheduled any shoot that had children (just in case something I had was contagious), and am now getting stuck into the backlog of editing…. You’ll see some new photos on the blog very soon – the next week, and December are filled with a few newborn shoots, lots of family portraits, at least one e-shoot, and a wedding! But before I leave you, we escaped the 41degree Sydney weather this weekend with a dip in the pool – here is my HEALTHY little bubba (drool & all!) – 10 months old today!!

As mentioned above, December is fully booked, but the diary is well & truly open for January and the rest of 2010. I’ll be sending around the Summer newsletter in the next week or so, with some specials and mini-shoot details, please e-mail me at lauren@tigerlilyphotography.com.au / leave a comment below / leave me a facebook message / call me on 0416 006 779 or 02 8824 7895  if you’d like to be on the e-mail list!

Cheers! Lauren.

The Bailey Family (on a windy, windy day!) {Family Portrait Photographer}

How windy was last Sunday!! I met the Bailey family at Parramatta Park for their family portraits, and by the end of the shoot, we were all sneezing and using words like ‘Telfast’ and ‘Claratyne’!! Us adults can take drugs like that, im not sure on the kids tho – I hope they were ok!

Anyway, introducing the Bailey’s……  Sarah, Rachel, Amy (+ 1), Max, Mark, Helen, Errol, Megan, Jarrad, Kate, Amelia, Lachlan, Simon & Rebecca:
