The lovely Nicole!! {Sydney Photographer}

Do you remember last Thursday? It was that gorgeous winters day, that was more like mid-spring, so warm with a beautiful blue sky. I think it hit about 25 degrees in Sydney (I remember my Facebook status was ‘Its 8am and im wearing a T-shirt & Jeans – go Sydney!). And there was wind, oh my lord, there was wind! Anyway, Nicoles shoot was booked in for that Thursday afternoon, and I enjoyed cruising to Bicentennial Park at Homebush with the sunroof open :)

Nicole was after some headshots for herself, her family, and her future employers – so headshots she got:

And then Nicole started laughing…..

And laughing….. And the wind was going crazy…..

And when the wind died down, we got some more shots of Nicole & her beautiful smile.

There’s that smile again (& the wind!)

I spied a tattoo on Nicoles arm (it means Courage, and she’s got a few more – thats courageous!!). We got talking, and it seams Nicole & I both have a similar tattoo on the same part of our body! And no, those photos didnt make the blog :)

Yup, thats Nicole. And yup, she’s in a wheelchair. And yup, she’s pretty awesome.

Thank you Nicole, for allowing me to take these headshots for you. I hope they were just want you were after! It was awesome to meet you last Thursday, and I hope Sarah didn’t catch a cold after her dip in the water! L. xx

Chris Atkinson, Kirsty Roberts and the band with no name ~ Sydney Photographer

And back to work I go….. Yes, I’m back, all recovered from the birth of Tom, and have adjusted (as best anyone can) to life with a baby (who is 6 weeks old now – time flies!). I have taken millions of photos of our little bundle of joy, but alas, processing & editing work photos comes first. I promise I’ll post soon!

Speaking of work….. Chris contacted me in response to the Bushfire Appeal post (below), wanting some shots taken of his new band – himself on guitar, and a stunner named Kirsty on vocals.  It was awesome to shoot their (yet to be named) band, with Chris strumming away, and Kirsty singing (gorgeous voice, by the way), belting out tunes like Dancing Queen (which I tried, very unsuccessfully to sing along too!)

Here are a few of my favourite photos from the mini-shoot:

How HOT are Chris & Kirsty! How could you not book them, for your wedding or next function?

I asked Chris for a little blurb on his music, for this blog, and also the links page on my website. Here it is:

Any style of music, for any setting, on any scale: Chris can create the musical effect you need to complete your special day.  Chris has been performing all over the world as a singer and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, saxophone, piano, bass, flute, clarinet); recently returned to Sydney after working in Japan at Universal Studios, aboard international luxury cruise ships and at the famous Hayman Island Resort, he regularly performs solo or as part of a duo, trio or larger groups.  From quiet background jazz to popular music for dancing, there’s no occasion or budget too big or small!  Contact Chris for a wide variety of demo material and repertoire: catkinson123@hotmail.com

Best of luck with the band, guys – can’t wait to hear you again! And thanks for donating to the Bushfire Appeal!

Victorian Bushfire Appeal (Black Saturday) ~ Sydney Family Photographer

Like everyone in Australia, watching the news on the TV has bought tears to my eyes. The bushfires have been devastating, I don’t think anyone can believe the destruction they have caused, and my heart bleeds thinking of the families that have now been torn apart. Like most people in Australia, I have been wondering what I can do to help (other than donating money myself, and shopping at Coles yesterday.)

Kris Leigh, a talented Newcastle Photographer, came up with the idea to donate the profits from her shoots,  to The Australian Red Cross. Like many other photographers, im jumping on the bandwagon and joining in…..

I will be offering 10 x ‘mini-sessions’ during the months of February & March 2009, which will take around 30 minutes, and you’ll be provided with your choice of 10 high-res photos (from approx. 30 photos) on disk. The cost of this mini-session is $100, and are to be be shot at your home, or a mutally convienent location. I can take photographs of you and your family, your kids, even your dog! This special offer is a first come / first served basis, so please e-mail me ASAP to lock in a date, then visit the Australian Red Cross website, donate your $100 session fee via the secure online donations form, send me an electronic copy of your receipt, and get ready to have your photo taken!

Im really hoping that 10 people will take me up on this offer, so together we can raise $1,000 for the victims of Black Saturday.

Lauren xx

** THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTACTED ME REGARDING THE BUSHFIRE APPEAL, AND THANK YOU TO THE 10 PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOOKED IN SHOOTS- I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU, STARTING THIS SATURDAY.  **

Happy New Year! ~ Sydney Photographer

Happy New Year!! I had really, really good intentions of posting on Xmas Day, to wish all my clients & blog readers a Merry Christmas… but it just didn’t happen. My pregnancy is almost over, and im really struggling now that ive put on so much weight (which im hoping is just fluid!), and its hot, bloody hot. I have now put my pelvis out, and im wearing a lovely maternity brace / belt to align it correctly, so I can walk without stopping to scream! And the latest one – carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand, which means that little things are really hard to do… like turning on a tap, lifting up a glass, typing, moving the mouse, and (god forbid), holding a camera!  I did pick up my camera on xmas day, to hand it straight to my husband to take a few photographs of me in all of my 36 week pregnant glory…. scroll down if you’re interested in seeing those photos.

In the meantime, after resting my hand on ice, I did manage to create a few little storyboards of my favourite photos for 2008. This year, the first ‘real’ year, has been a massive one for Tiger Lily Photography. I should have counted up the number of happy faces I shot (der – maybe next year!). 2009 is already looking to be a big year – after I come back from ‘maternity leave’ in early March, I have a wedding in the gorgeous Blue Mountains, a few family portrait shoots, a trash the dress shoot, and a day after shoot! And thats just March!

A big thank you to my clients, blog readers (stalkers), friends & family for helping make 2008 a great year. And as promised – here are some of my favourite photos from 2008!

And here are a few photos that Stu took on Xmas day of me. And yes, my ankles are really that big…. no photoshopping here! I was told yesterday at my ultrasound appointment, that if baby lasts until 40 weeks, it will be a 4.2kg / 9pd2 bub – give me strength! No wonder my pelvis has already given up!

Happy 2009 guys, big kiss!

L. xx

The Gorgeous Sian ~ Sydney Headshots Photographer

Last week I met Sian, a gorgeous 15 year old up and coming Actor, who needed some new Headshots for her Agent - ’She’s changing so often, we need new shots every 6 months’ her mum told me! Anyway, here is Sian, as of September ’08 – Can’t wait to see how much she’s changed next March!

Good luck with the photos, Sian, and im sure i’ll see you on Home & Away in a few months!

Lauren.
